So, you somehow missed the 1980’s TV series, “The A-Team”, no big deal. If you’re looking for a fun action film full of things being “Blow’d Up”, with a fair amount of humor, and you take your big budget action film plots with a grain of salt, you’ll have a great time with the “The A-Team” out in theaters now. The critical beating is , to some extent, well deserved; it’s full of cheesy humor, complicated CIA plots and counter plots, and predictable eye candy (Bradley Cooper’s pecs and Jessica Biel in tight leather pants as an Army captain), but somehow it was still entertaining and isn’t that the bottom line?
It was trounced by it’s fellow 80’s franchise, “The Karate Kid” this weekend at the Box Office, but I think “The A-Team” is worth the $10 ticket just for the firepower alone, maybe people were disappointed at how it diverged from the TV series, but not having watched the show, that wasn’t a problem for me. Fans of the TV show will want to watch for cameos by Dirk Benedict, and Dwight Schultz. Schultz and Benedict played H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock and Templeton “Faceman” Peck respectively in the original series.
